Karyopherins are transport receptors consisting of an N-terminal RanGTP-binding motif and mediate the transport of protein and RNA across the nucleus and cytoplasm. These proteins interact directly with nuclear pore complex and shuttle continuously between the nucleus and cytoplasm.
