| Description | Purity: > 95 % by SDS - PAGE Format: Liquid. In 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH8.0) containing 1mM DTT,10% glycerol. Visinin-like protein-1, also known as VILIP-1, belongs to a family of neuronal calcium sensor proteins. VILIP-1 is strongly expressed in granule cells of the cerebellum where it associates with membranes in a calcium dependent manner and modulates intracellular signaling pathways of the central nervous system by directly or indirectly regulating the activity of adenylyl cyclase. Also, it is expressed in pancreatic beta-cells. VILIP-1 elevation enhances insulin secretion in cAMP-associated manner. Down-regulation of VILIP-1 decreased cAMP accumulation but increased insulin gene transcription. Recombinant human Visinin-like protein-1 was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography. |
