| Description | Product Specifications: Product Code DU The Product: Des(1-3) insulin-like growth factor-I, [Des(1-3)IGF-I] is a 67 amino acid analog of human IGF-I lacking the N-terminal tripeptide Gly-Pro-Glu. Des(1-3) IGF-I is more potent than IGF-I in vitro and in vivo. This increased potency is due to reduced binding of Des(1-3)IGF-I to most of the IGF binding proteins produced by cells. These binding proteins normally inhibit the biological actions of IGF-I. The truncated peptide has been found in brain and other tissues. Source: Des(1-3)IGF-I is produced in E. coli using a patented expression system. Several chromatography purification steps are employed to yield the Receptor Grade product. Purity: >95% (as determined by HPLC and N-terminal sequence analysis) Molecular Weight: 7365 daltons - confirmed by Mass Spectrometry N-terminal sequence analysis of recombinant product: 5 residues >95% single sequence Biological Activity: (stimulation of protein synthesis in rat L6 myoblasts) ED50 <10 ng/ml Endotoxin (LAL): <0.1 EU/ug Stability: at least 2 years at 2-4°C (lyophilised) Appearance: White Powder State: Dried from 0.1 M acetic acid: under dry nitrogen at slight vacuum (-25kPa) Reconstitution: Dissolve in dilute acid (e.g. 10mM HCl or 0.1M acetic acid), aliquot and store at -20°C.
