| Description | Orexins are endogenous peptides that act through orexin receptor type 1 and type 2, two closely related G-protein-coupled receptors. Binding of orexins to these receptors causes an increase in intracellular calcium levels. In vivo, orexins are involved in the control of feeding behavior and possibly in modulating sleep-wake cycles and other hypothalamic functions. The antibody was generated against a peptide sequence of the second extracellular loop. |
