DescriptionCa2+ sensor widely expressed in teh nervous system. Synaptotagmin 1 is an integral membrane glycoprotein of neuronal synaptic vesicles and secretory granules of neuroendocrine cells that is widely (but not ubiquitously) expressed in the central and peripheral nervous system. Ca2+-binding to synaptotagmin triggers exocytosis of synaptic vesicles, thus linking Ca2+-influx during depolarization to neurotransmitter release. Synaptotagmin is expressed in mast cells of normal human tissues and potentially involved in histamine release in allergic and asthmatic reactions.
ImmunogenRecombinant protein of rat synaptotagmin 1 (aa 80 - 421) containing the C-terminal part.
