| Description | PTCH Polyclonal Antibody. A Sonic Hedgehog receptor, Patched1 is a polytopic receptor protein that is essential for growth and differentiation. It has been implicated in making an impact in the variation in tumor and response to therapy in ovarian cancer. Patched1 activates Smoothened (SMO) constitutively in cells; in Gorlin syndrome patients, blocking this interaction is a very effective way to cease formation of basal cell neoplasia. In addition to its availability in cell membrane fractions, Patched1 C-terminal fragments also function as a signal transducer to the cell nucleus. In inflammatory processes like ischemia-reperfusion injury, Patched1 is upregulated and can be seen in histologically damaged areas. In the common pediatric tumor |
