| Description | GLRA1 Monoclonal Antibody (4D6). GLRA1 is a subunit of a pentameric inhibitory glycine receptor, which mediates postsynaptic inhibition in the central nervous system. Defects in GLRA1 are a cause of startle disease (STHE), also known as hereditary hyperekplexia or congenital stiff-person syndrome. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for GLRA1. Glycine receptors (GlyR) that include GLRA1 are members of the cys-loop family of ligand-gated ion channels, responsible for mediating the inhibitory effects of glycine.
