| Description | This gene encodes one of the three enolase isoenzymes found in mammals. This isoenzyme, a homodimer, is found in mature neurons and cells of neuronal origin. A switch from alpha enolase to gamma enolase occurs in neural tissue during development in rats and primates. Sample Type: Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates Intended Use: For the quantitative determination of human neuron-specific enolase (NSE) concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates. Sensitivity: 0.195ng/ml Range: 0.78-50ng/ml Specificity: This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of human NSE. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between human NSE and analogues was observed. Test Principle: This BioAssay? employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for NSE has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any NSE present is bound by the immobilized antibody.
